Richard’s family snubs Ricki

A RED carpet reception awaits Tanzania’s Big Brother Africa II winner Richard Bezuidenhout, who arrives back from South Africa tomorrow but he might not receive the same treatment from his wife, Ricki.

On Sunday night, viewer voting propelled 24-year-old film student from Dar es Salaam, to the big prize of $100 000 (about 130m/-) with seven of the 13 voting blocks voting for him.

Beating Angola’s Tatiana and Nigeria’s Ofunneka to win the series, Richard was the last person to head out of the now famous Big Brother doors, straight into the spotlight as Africa’s newest reality series winner.

Meanwhile, Richard’s wife, Ricki, who refused to travel to South Africa to attend the party, has been dubbed ‘bad wife’ by her sister-in-law.

“She did not support Richard at all, she left for Canada, stayed there for more than two months only to come back one week before the final,” Linda, who attended the party in South Africa, told the Daily News yesterday.

“She wrote letters undermining my brother, calling him a womaniser, I have this letter, I can show it to you.

“I told Richard about Ricki’s behaviour, he was very angry, he even suggested there are chances he will divorce her.”

When contacted for her side of the story, Ricki said she had not spoken with her husband but refused to deny or admit the accusations directed to her.

“I have not spoken to Richard so far, I am waiting for him to come back and speak to him face to face,” she told the Daily News.

“I am not prepared to speak to the media about Tatiana, my future with Richard or anything else,” she added.
